LDS ScripturesMembers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints believe in the use of inspired scripture from God.  Scriptures are used to both teach, testify, and establish the fundamental principles and doctrines of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mormon Scriptures

The Bible

“We Believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly”.  Our belief in the Bible is fundamental to our scripture study and learning.  We believe in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

The Book of Mormon

As another testament of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon is fundamental to our belief in Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world.  It does not replace the Bible but instead compliments its teachings of the divinity Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, the pattern and use of Prophets throughout time, and the atoning sacrifice of our Savior and Redeemer in the Garden of Gethsemane, on the cross, and His triumphant Resurrection. – Read the Book of Mormon

Modern Revelation

Through the Bible and the Book of Mormon we can see the establishment of Prophets as pivotal to the church of God. Today we know Prophets are still important to teach followers of Christ correct principles and establish scripture for our day.  The words of modern and current prophets are as timely for us as those of Isaiah, Moses, and the Apostle Paul.  Modern Prophets, like Moses and others, teach mankind how they might “look and live”, by having Faith in the Atonement of Jesus Christ, Repent, Baptism, and the Gift of the Holy Ghost.  Modern Revelation includes the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price.

For additional help at understanding the scriptures, readers are encouraged to use these Study Helps and most importantly consult the Lord through prayer.
